Our Story & Our Faith
A church born of faith, grown by grace, and called to transform lives across the islands of Cabo Verde and the world.
From Three Members to a Nation
The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Cabo Verde began its journey in 2006 in the capital city of Praia. It started from humble beginnings with just three members, under the pioneering leadership of Pastor Ezekiel King Adedayo.
By the grace of God, what started as a small gathering has grown and evolved significantly. Today, our presence has expanded beyond Praia, with established branches in Boa Vista and Sal Island.
We stand as a testament to God's faithfulness in this nation, serving as a beacon of hope and a spiritual home for many across the islands.
Part of a Worldwide Movement
We are proud to be part of the global RCCG family, headquartered in Nigeria. The church was founded in 1952 in Lagos by Pastor Josiah Akindayomi, a man deeply committed to prayer and guided by a divine vision to establish a church where God's purpose could be fulfilled.
From its humble beginnings, RCCG has grown into a massive global movement with parishes in over 190 nations. The church is known worldwide for its unwavering commitment to holiness, evangelism, and discipleship.
Under the leadership of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer since 1981, RCCG has seen exponential growth. Programs like the annual Holy Ghost Congress draw millions of worshippers seeking God's presence.

Our Mandate & Core Objectives
Our mandate is clear and our focus is eternal. These six core objectives guide everything we do as a church — from the islands of Cabo Verde to the ends of the earth.
We are a Bible-believing church grounded in the full counsel of Scripture — Old and New Testament alike.
We believe that the entire Scripture is written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (II Tim. 3:16-17). All Christian teachings and conduct are established in the Holy Bible, which we hold to be the written and revealed Will of God — unchangeable, eternal, and living.
We believe that the entire Scripture, both Old and New Testament are written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. All Christian teachings and the Christian attitude of the Children of God are such as are established in the Holy Bible.
II Tim. 3:16-17 · II Peter 1:21 · John 17:17We believe that the Bible is the written and revealed Will of God — revealing man's position to God, the way to obtain salvation, and everlasting joy kept for the born-again souls. The Word of God stands forever.
Deut. 4:22 · Rev. 22:18-19 · Matt. 24:34-38As revealed unto us by the Bible, we believe that there is only one God, Who is the Creator of both visible and invisible creatures. Only God will be in existence forever — in God every creature receives life.
Gen. 1:1 · Ps. 86:9-10 · Is. 43:10-11 · John 1:1-3 · John 5:26We believe that He is the Son of God; Who took away our sins, and the Savior of the world. We also believe that Jesus is God and was born by Mary the Virgin. He is God revealed in the flesh. Through Him all things were created.
John 1:1-14 · John 14:9 · Matt. 1:18-25 · Is 9:6We believe in His death on the Cross, and resurrection, by which He brought redemption. He is our atonement, our High Priest, and our eternal Savior.
Is. 53:4-10 · I Pet. 2:24 · John 10:11 · I Cor. 15:3We believe that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost are one God, but made of three persons — hence they are ONE IN TRINITY. Just as an egg is comprised of three parts (yolk, white, and shell) yet remains one, so too is the nature of God: three persons, one eternal God.
Gen. 1:16-29 · Matt. 3:16-17 · Matt. 18:19The Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Trinity, equal in power and glory with God the Father and God the Son. He teaches, speaks to men, bears witness in us, and performs the work of regeneration and sanctification.
John 14:16-17 · John 15:26 · Acts 13:24 · John 3:5-6All born-again souls should ask for the Holy Spirit from above. He endows believers with spiritual gifts and empowers them for service. Any Christian who receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit speaks in tongues.
Luke 24:49 · Acts 1:4-5 · Acts 2:38-39 · I Cor 12:7God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. Therefore man is of three parts: body, soul and spirit. Man is God's ambassador on earth, created to take control over all other creatures on His behalf and to reveal God's love more than any other creature.
Gen. 1:26 · Gen. 2:7 · Gen. 1:26-28A Christian without condemnation of heart has the right to thank God and remain in adoration and prayer unto the Lord always. The Holy Spirit helps our infirmities in prayer. We must pray only by the Name of Jesus, and without faith our prayer shall be powerless before God.
John 16:23 · Rom. 8:26 · James 1:6-8 · Heb. 11:6We are commanded to pray and not to faint and to pray without ceasing. It is God's plan that we should pray to receive all the goods He has promised in His treasure for us. Much trouble and danger are encountered in the absence of prayer.
Col. 4:2 · I Thess. 5:17 · Luke 18:1 · Matt. 7:7-11We believe in baptism by the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. This teaching is revealed in the New Testament and all Christians must obey this rule of the Lord. Every saved soul automatically qualifies for Water Baptism.
Matt. 28:19 · Acts 2:24 · Acts 8:29-39 · Acts 16:15Marriage is honorable in all. Therefore all members who wish to marry could do so in the church, following the holy ordinance of God rather than the worldly pattern. We honor the sanctity of marriage as instituted by God.

A Servant Leader Called to the Islands
Under the pioneering vision and tireless dedication of Pastor King Ezekiel Adedayo, RCCG Cabo Verde has grown from a gathering of three into a multi-island mission touching lives across Santiago, Sal, and Boavista.
Pastor Adedayo arrived in Cabo Verde in 2006 with a clear mandate: to bring the light of the Gospel to the islands and establish a church that would serve as a spiritual home for residents and visitors alike. His leadership is marked by unwavering faith, pastoral warmth, and a deep commitment to discipleship.
He leads the church under the covering of the global RCCG family, aligned with the vision of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer since 1981, whose leadership has seen the church grow to over 190 nations.
Today, Pastor Adedayo continues to expand the mission — planting churches, nurturing believers, and raising up new generations of faith-filled leaders across the Cabo Verde archipelago.
